The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Zoombezi Bay sponsor annual paid and unpaid internships for college students interested in interning spring and/or summer semesters/quarters. Other opportunities may occur throughout the year since positions available vary depending on department needs. See below for a list of current positions available.
The Human Resources Department administers the Internship program at the Zoo and Zoombezi Bay, but interns will report directly to individual supervisors in the various departments. We do not provide housing for our interns. It is the responsibility of the intern to arrange and pay for housing and all other associated costs of living for the duration of the internship. All positions will remain open until filled.
Asia Quest Internship
The goal of this internship is to provide a basic understanding of general husbandry of the animals located in the Asia Quest region. Students will gain hands-on experience in the field while learning the day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time Zookeeper.
African Forest/Australia Internship
The goal of this internship is to provide a basic understanding of general husbandry of the animals located in the African Forest and Australia regions. Students will gain hands-on experience in the field while learning day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time Zookeeper.
Shores Internship
The goal of this internship is to provide the student with an introduction into the aquatic zookeeping field. Students will assist with projects and gain hands-on experience while learning the day-to-day responsibilites of a full-time Zookeeper.
North America Internship
The goal of this internship is to provide a basic understanding of general husbandry of the animals located in the North America region. Students will assist with projects and gain hands-on experience in the field while learning the day-to-day responsibilites of a full-time Zookeeper.
