Powell, OH – The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be hosting their eighth annual Go Wild! For Opera event on the evening of July 9th, 2010 at 8 p.m. This year’s concert, The Great American Songbook: Opera Meets Big Band, features some of the most talented singers in Columbus.
Prepare yourself for an exciting evening of popular music, written by some of the best of the great American composers. The program highlights the biggest singing stars and leading songwriters of the 1930s, ‘40s, and ‘50s. Fans of the Gilded Age of music to New Orleans jazz all the way to Broadway musicals will all be pleased by this perfect blend of musical numbers.
Led by masters of ceremony Cabot Rea, Chuck Gillespie, and David Weaver, the Rick Brunetto Big Band will start off the program. They will be followed by local vocalists, Mark Baker, Suzy Biehl, Willie Grové, Rebecca Keck, Craig Montgomery, Sarah Rhorer, David Weaver, and Jennifer Whitehead.
The event will take place rain or shine at the Zoo’s Water’s Edge Events Park.
Tickets are $25 if purchased before July 1; $35 after July 1; and $10 for children. All general admission tickets for the concert include all day Zoo admission. Those looking to make a full outing of the concert can purchase patron admission tickets for $75. Patron admission tickets include all day Zoo admission, a pre-concert dinner, and two drink tickets.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days of the year 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend.
