Roz Carr, Frederick, artisans, beekeepers and wood carvers are examples of the courage, hope and dignity that lives in all of us if we just listen and then take action. PIC continues to operate according to the wise words of a Rwandan colleague who said “if you respectfully assist the local population, the forest will stand and the animals will survive.” By working together, the PIC team is not only respectfully assisting people and wildlife in Rwanda but also have the opportunity to learn about conservation and dignity from their Rwandan and Congolese colleagues.

You Can Help

Thank you for your interest in Partners In Conservation.  We invite you to explore ways that you can add your unique talents and support to this eclectic, but effective, grass-roots program.  From our inception in 1991, our objective has been to offer ordinary people…like ourselves…an opportunity to combine efforts to respectfully assist conservation and humanitarian programs in Rwanda and the DRC.  We hope that you will join us as we continue to find respectful ways to help preserve wildlife and assist the gentle people of Central Africa.

Margaret Mead wrote, "Never doubt that a few thoughtful people can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  Partners In Conservation lives by those words.

The following are a few suggestions on how you can help.
You can contact PIC about a unique presentation that is suitable for conferences, universities, service organizations, etc.  PIC speakers discuss - from personal experience - the people, cultures and mountain gorillas of Rwanda and DRC.  The program features slides and video in a multi-media format.  For further information please contact PIC.
  • You can purchase 10 energy saving stoves for 10 Rwandan families for $30.00.
  • You can fund the lunch program at the UMBUMWE Community Center for one month for $120. The hot lunch program provides food for more than seventy children and adults each day.
  • You can provide a one-year scholarship for a child at the Imbabazi Orphanage to attend secondary school for an entire year for $300.00.
  • You can purchase beautiful hand-crafted items made by Rwandan and Congolese artists participating in PIC's Artisan Project.  For more information about Artisan products please contact PIC
  • If you are an artist, you could share your work with us. Your work could be considered for auction at PIC's annual fund-raiser, might be used on note cards or posters, etc. PIC works with each artist individually.
